No Need to Compete or Compare

From a really young age children are thrust in to a world of comparison and competition, whether at school or taking part in sports and other activities and even by observing the adults around them who are deeply conditioned to compare themselves to others through social media etc.

Yoga & Meditation class is a safe, supportive and fun place to let go of comparison and competition, allowing themselves to just BE.  We all have different bodies, different abilities and different styles when we do anything in life.  In my classes there is a big emphasis on loving your body & mind, being kind to your body & mind, not pushing yourself past limits but letting yourself become strong and flexible in both body & mind, slowly over time with plenty self-care and self-love.  Expressing yourself as your own unique individual self is healing and empowering!

Greater Confidence

It seems that children are younger and younger when they begin to express a negative body image.  Stress and anxiety are also aspects I hear parents expressing about their children from a young age too.  While it is natural to have a certain amount of healthy stress in our lives it is really important that we learn how to listen to ourselves and develop a loving, kind and compassionate relationship with both our body & mind.   Yoga & meditation are powerful wellbeing tools that help us tune in to how we are feeling and how we can best take care of ourselves by responding to what we need most in any given moment.  Becoming aware of their own mind and body in this way gives children (and adults!) a greater sense of self, enhanced wellbeing and greater confidence.  In my classes learning about yoga & meditation happens through story, song, dance, play and oodles of fun! 😊
